Dear Artist,

As someone who appreciated the amazing contributions of watercolor artists, I can’t imagine a declining interest in watercolor. But I can imagine a future where fewer people are actually painting with great skill.

I know we all want the watercolor movement to have a bright and bold future, and it’s up to us to make sure it happens. Those of us who believe in the arts must support the passing on of the skills taught by the masters.

As publisher of PleinAir Magazine and American Watercolor Weekly, I, along with Editor-in-Chief Kelly Kane, have announced that we will be awarding a total of 12 full scholarships to attend the upcoming 5th Annual Watercolor Live online conference (January 22-24, 2025).     

🎨 EVERYONE IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY.


This includes:
  • Two (2) student scholarships (ages 16-26)
  • ​Two (2) teacher scholarships — NEW for teachers instructing at a high school, college or university, or an atelier program
  • ​Two (2) persons aged 65+
  • ​Two (2) working artists — open to ALL artists 🎨
  • ​Two (2) beginner-level artists
  • ​Two (2) financial hardship scholarships

We know inspiration and exposure to the right instructors and philosophy will change lives.

It is critically important for us to be developing the next generation of artists so that representational art lives into the future.

These full scholarships will include:
  • A full Premier-level registration to Watercolor Live (January 2-24, 2025) — a $497 value!
  • ​A ticket to Essential Techniques Day (Jan 21) — a $197 value!

Watercolor Live is the largest gathering of its type, and is an international gathering of those interested in the watercolor movement.
